The objective of the Medallion Rottweiler Club is to encourage and promote the breeding of pure-bred Rottweilers and to do all in its power to protect and advance the interests of the breed by maintaining high breeding standards and by encouraging sportsmanlike competition at dog shows, obedience trials, tracking tests, herding and agility trials and any other American Kennel Club sanctioned events where Rottweilers are, or will be, permitted to participate. And to conduct sanctioned and licensed specialty shows, obedience trials, tracking tests, herding and agility trials and any other American Kennel Club sanctioned events where Rottweilers are, or will be, permitted to participate under the care of the American Kennel Club.
Serving the breed since 1959, the Medallion Rottweiler Club is one of the largest, AKC sanctioned, regional Code of Ethics Rottweiler Specialty Clubs in the United States. As a Code of Ethics Club, MRC endorses the breeding of sound Rottweilers, free of hip dysplasia as determined by the O.F.A. and with no disqualifying faults as listed in the AKC Standard.
In addition to holding what is usually one of the largest specialty shows for Rottweilers in the world, the MRC sponsors matches, obedience clinics, breed seminars, judges' symposiums, tracking tests, Therapy Dog International and Canine Good Citizen testing. In addition the club provides public education on the Rottweiler and members perform therapy dog visits to schools, senior care centers and hospitals in the greater Chicagoland area. In its dedication to preserve the Rottweiler, The Medallion Rottweiler club also fights breed specific legislation and supports Canine Health Foundation research.
